This is my first really attempt at manga in Corel Painter... My character Tarlis I chose because it seemed something simple to start off with, it was actually alot harder then I imagined it took my pretty much a whole day to do this. So much blending....anyways it's oil on canvas Corel's great I think I might use it again...
First off, his face is kind of stretched on the right side. makes the face look unbalanced and uneven.
you also outlined some parts when you didn't outline anything else. (the strings, some parts of his jacket, and his collar)
and his hair looks very.. nubby? lol i'm not too sure how i can describe it. use long sweeping motions to color in hair.

I actually learn rather quickly much to all my teachers and relatives joy, I pick up things fast...like I just picked up the first part of a lulaby on piano that my granddad was playing XD
You should definitely practice more. This is a decent base, but the coloring doesn't look at all complete: the hair and eyes are especially noticeable as looking unfinished. It's tough to learn new media, and you did well on the nose and mouth, but on the rest of the figure, more thought needs to be put into the blending and the lighting.

I see, I guess the eyes of my characters arn't shiny, sparkly or particularly big as is the common style of manga...what do you mean by the colour not being complete? What is it that I haven't finished? Thanks and yeah the blending was REALLY hard for me especially since I've never actually painted, but I have blended with oil pastels, it is very time consuming and difficult, but it's worth it in the end. I love the beautiful images it can produce.
